City Sampler Blocks 10, 11, 12

Block No. 10

Block No. 11

Block No. 12
I'm keeping up with the City Sampler Quilt along --
this was a fun week of blocks.
Still sashing as I go, too -- I don't let myself move onto the next block until the last block has it's white sashing!

Butterfly Pillow

I'm so thrilled to have finished this pillow!
(Butterfly tutorial by Rita of Red Pepper Quilts, fabrics are mostly Amy Butler)
Love the texture created by straight line quilting!

The back of the pillow was an experiment in free motion quilting -- then finished off with a simple envelope closure.

This is my entry into the Modern Mini Quilt Challenge at Ellison Lane Quilts!

Bell Pepper Coasters

Project #1 from the fabulous new book Patchwork Please! is the Bell Pepper Coaster.  This was such fun to make!  And quick, too.  I didn't have much time to sew the day I made these, so I set my kitchen timer for 60 minutes.  I was nearly done with all three when the timer beeped -- hooray!
I showed them to my girls when they came home from school - and they thought they were butterflies.  But we've been raising caterpillars, lately, so they're always thinking about butterflies.  But I could see how I could easily change this pattern into a butterfly.  I'll add this to our list of summer projects!

City Sampler Quilt Along

Have you heard about the City Sampler Quilt along hosted by Sara at SewSweetness?
How fun!
I've finished up the first 3 blocks:
Block No. 1
Block No. 2
Block No. 3
I'm going to sash each block as I go along -- so that the quilt will come together more quickly when all of the blocks are finished.  I'm using the same type of sashing I used on my Farmer's Wife quilt -- I just love this layout!!!
I'm also using leftover fabrics (Sugar Pop by Moda) from my Farmer's Wife quilt -- I'm crossing my fingers that I won't run out!

Lots of Sheep

A fun quilt finish for this Friday!
The tutorial for making this rick-rac baby quilt can be found at Twin Fibers -- it's really fun and easy!  I quilted this with some straight lines, and some wavy lines to echo the rick-rac.  I would have added more wavy lines, but the weight of this quilt (with minky on the back), didn't agree with my sewing machine and pulled a lot!  Luckily, adding in some straight line quilting helped quite a bit!

This is such a snuggly quilt -- and I just love those sheep!
